As a Database Engineer, you will be responsible for providing 24x7 production support for client-server systems. You will participate in production support and implementation of databases, design, and tune critical high volume OLTP databases, and contribute to database infrastructure enhancements.

In this role, you will be responsible for technology-based analysis of business practices, processes, and problems; developing solutions that involve process design, data and information architecture, software development and policy or procedural changes. This includes creating specifications for systems to meet requirements; validating requirements against needs; designing details of automated systems; planning and executing unit integration and end-user acceptance testing; may develop training materials for system implementation. You will manage and lead a group of ETL/Data Engineer professionals to solve complex business or systems issues.

Your daily duties and responsibilities in this role will generally include:

  • Act as a hands-on technical lead of the data warehouse team to ensure all objectives are met
  • Manage and lead a small team of ETL/ Data Engineering professionals
  • Act as a team lead to design, develop, document, test and maintain ET, Data Warehousing and Data Engineering applications and processes
  • Develop and maintain data warehouse and data engineering capabilities for reporting and analysis
  • Work with Production Support/ Run the Shop IT Partner vendor team and provide direction and assistance
  • Interact closely with various functional and cross-functional, business intelligence and data analytics team to determine reporting needs and translate those needs into the Data Warehouse Data Model and ETL processing
  • Develop and Document all ETL/ Data pipeline and processes according to the best practices
  • Responsible for building and maintaining design standards and best practices and ensure to adhere to those standards
  • Promote and Drie Data Management Strategy with the help of an offshore IT Vendor
  • Evaluate and recommend unique hardware/software configurations; defines special hardware/software requirements, capabilities, etc. to meet user needs while adhering to technical standards

Are you:

  • Proficient in Data Warehousing theory, practice, and strong hands-on experience in data warehousing and data architecture
  • Proficient in Data Warehousing tools and database systems (Oracle, Greenplum, Hadoop, Cloud, Informatica, and Unix)
  • 4-8 years of experience in a data warehousing environment
  • A solid 4+ years of building and supporting ETL/Data Integration applications
  • 2+ years of strong experience in data architecture and data modeling
  • Proficient in SQL, Database Design, and SQL Tuning
  • Strong Unix Shell Scripting knowledge along with experience utilizing an Enterprise Scheduling tool
  • Experienced with multiple full lifecycle projects in developing ETL solutions
  • Focused on providing service to the customer
  • Out of the box thinking; Flexible/ Critical thinking skills are a must
  • Able to sell concepts, designs, and benefits to multiple audiences
  • able to work independently and in diverse, co-located and remote teams
