Desktop Support Engineer in Birmingham at Vaco

Job Description


  • Act as primary point of contact for first line desktop, application and core technology support
  • Report, triage, escalate and resolve technical support issues through internal tracking systems
  • Provide off-hours end-user support to remote offices and staff as required
  • Identify and document commonly asked questions, procedures and technology needs


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional tenure and/or certifications
  • Pragmatic and logical problem-solving ability with ability to solve abstract problems
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills in mixed-use environments
  • Knowledge of Active Directory
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft desktop environments including Office, Visual Studio and SQL Management Studio
  • Ability to quickly learn new skills and proprietary application knowledge
  • Experience (past or present) of working in a front-line service desk environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Azure, AWS or other cloud platform providers a plus
  • Ability to automate tasks in powershell, bash, python, ruby, etc
  • Conceptual knowledge of SQL Server concepts; Installation, backup, recovery
