Job Description

Vaco is seeking a DevOps Engineer. The primary function of this position is to provide support to development teams through system administration and managing web/network related projects.


  • Development Operations.
  • Participates in the development SDLC processes to create, support, and refine web applications.
  • Actively involved in building out new environments for in-house built applications.
  • Supports application environments including Windows Server, SQL Server, load balancing and other 3rd party applications that interface with in-house built applications.
  • Supports and configures TFS, Build Servers and Release Management servers.
  • Supports web site/application deployments via VS Release Management and TFS.
  • Supports build and branching strategies in coordination with the development teams.
  • Maintains scripts created to support automation of build and release tasks as needed.
  • Implements and maintains automation/scripting via Powershell, DSC, and SCCM.
  • Works with software, infrastructure, network engineers and DBAs to solve productivity challenges, drive efficiency and automate environment builds and application releases.
  • Develops and supports monitoring solutions to ensure application performance and availability goals are met.
  • Implements and maintains cloud-based infrastructure and automated provisioning.
  • Implements and maintains server clusters and load balancing environments.
  • Implements and maintains web servers; security, backup/disaster recovery, load balancing, and related problems.
  • Works with Enterprise Security and development teams to support vulnerability testing processes and tools.
  • Coordinates firewall, VPN, switch, and router installations and modifications with Network Engineer as part of the creation and support of application environments.
  • System Administration and Support.


  • MCSE 20xx or MCITP-EA preferred.
  • VMware Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV) preferred.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years applied systems administration in a mission critical Windows Server 2008/2012 and Cisco switching environment.
  • Working knowledge of Windows Server 2008/2012, Desired State Configuration (DSC), Powershell, SCCM, Windows networking, Active Directory/AD Connect, Office 365/SharePoint, and high-availability architecture.
  • Experience supporting Visual Studio/Team Foundation Server platforms.
  • Experience supporting build and release processes and tools (MSBuild, TFS, MS Release Management, Git).
  • Familiarity with load balancing technologies; F5 BigIP experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with MS SQL Server and TSQL script execution.
  • Familiarity with one or more scripting languages (PowerShell, BASH, Perl, Ruby, Python).
  • Familiarity with cloud services (e.g. Azure, AWS) including service provisioning, troubleshooting, and monitoring.
  • Some experience with application monitoring, alerting and automated remediation processes.
  • Familiarity with Software Development processes (SDLC) within Agile/Scrum frameworks.
