Solutions Architect (Direct-Hire)

Actively seeking a talented Solution Architect to join the Retirement Solutions Division based in Newport Beach, California. The Retirement Solutions Division leverages its strengths in product development, technology, services and risk management to create retirement solutions for individuals, families, and businesses. With the guidance of financial professionals, customers have access to an array of an array of annuities and mutual funds designed to help grow assets and to provide retirement income for financial independence.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This is a fulltime opportunity that will provide strategic and tactical guidance to the Retirement Solutions Division (RSD) Transformation Office and other cloud-empowering teams in Pacific Life. They will quickly establish credibility to design, deploy and operate cloud-based architecture (AWS) while mentoring others in the analysis and design of cloud-based solutions.

*Full time member of the RSD Transformation Office
*Develop principles, policies, standards and guidelines for cloud architectures
*Guide cloud engineers and other IT specialists as they migrate applications to the cloud
*Guide the selection of appropriate AWS services to design and deploy each application
*Collaborate within enterprise-level working groups while striking a balance between business unit and enterprise needs
*Create cloud architecture blueprints for product teams to leverage for their designs
*Provide leadership in application migration methodologies and techniques including mass application movements to the cloud
*Design systems that meet high-availability and business continuity requirements
*Design interconnectivity between on-premises locations and public cloud providers
*Design hosted environments in the public cloud, including Production, Staging, Testing, and Development
*Design cloud-based data life cycle and storage solutions that adhere to security and compliance requirements
*Write automation scripts and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) to deploy applications in the public cloud
*Support communication and training efforts

FACTROS FOR SUCCESS:

*Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related fields or commensurate work experience
*10+ years of systems engineering experience
*At least 2 years of experience migrating enterprise applications to cloud architecture in AWS
*Experience with automation tools such as Chef, Terraform, AWS Cloud Formation, SaltStack, Ansible, Puppet, Jenkins and Kickstart
*Experience with programming and scripting languages such as Java, C#, C++, JavaScript, Python, Ruby, Perl, Bash/shell and PowerShell
*Experience providing enterprise Linux and Windows Server system administration
