Job Description

The Director of Accounting is responsible for overseeing and directing accounting functions, including performing day to day financial accounting and reporting responsibilities. Prepares periodic reports, reviews and reconciles data, and participates in the development of specialized financial data. Oversees and prepares entries and adjustments to Company records, files, and statements. Directs, trains, and supervises accounting personnel. Substantially contributes to the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of the general ledger, financial statements, and reports.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ownership of the operational accounting review and accuracy
  • Collaborate with the Finance team to ensure alignment on the treatment of various activities
  • Ensure that compliance activities are performed in a timely and accurate manner
  • Primary review of the monthly global results
  • Perform certain non-accounting tasks that are essential to the performance of the business
  • Assist development and implementation of new procedures to the system and department
  • Review monthly reconciliations, controls and journal entries
  • Provide significant support in ongoing integration activities
  • Direct interaction and management of the external audit and quarterly reviews
  • Provide training to new and existing staff as needed
  • Handle personnel issues relating to staff conflicts, absenteeism, performance issues, etc.
  • Ad hoc reporting and assignment

Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications

  • Hands on experience with a large ERP system (Oracle preferred)
  • 10+ years of experience with a track record of progressive responsibilities
  • Experience with managing accounting team
  • Experience managing the month end close
  • Experience managing the external auditors
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving and decision making skills
  • Able to multitask, work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, and meet deadlines
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of management experience
  • Certified Public Accounting (CPA) a strong plus
  • Public accounting experience
  • Experience with integrating accounting processes necessary
  • Experience working in a multi-national public company

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check

Travel Requirements

  • Typically requires travel less than 5% of the time

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
