Director of Cloud Computing

We are currently seeking a Director of Cloud Computing for our client in Mooresville, NC. This position will lead and manage the team responsible for implementation, management and support of all cloud based computing environments.

Directs a team of internal resources, vendors, managed service providers and cloud services providers to design, develop, engineer, implement and operate predominantly cloud based applications and systems. Objectives include providing cost effective cloud based solutions to maximize performance and availability while minimizing downtime and ensuring completion of projects on schedule and within budget.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • This position will manage all cloud based service providers which includes but is not limited to: managing the cloud vendor relationships, architectural decision making, responsibility for migrating applications and services to the cloud, continuous support and improvement of cloud based service offerings, and cloud based disaster recovery.

  • Manages the performance and availability with minimal downtime/disruption of Cloud vendor and internally provided IT services.
  • Coordinates with internal/external project team in leading cloud and end user service delivery implementation plans and ensures completion of projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Manages the design, development, engineering, implementation and operations of servers, technology infrastructure, networks, websites and telecommunications services provided by external cloud/hosting providers, and in-house development teams.
  • Provides leadership, direction and coordination of staff employees to include recruitment, training, staff development, performance management, and disciplinary actions.
  • Develops and oversees the annual operating budget. Manages to budget targets.
  • Establishes and maintains strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, adheres to policies, procedures, and protocols, and promotes company values. Recommends policies and procedures and assists with implementing approved changes.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and present potential technical solutions and advise business and product owners on the technical and business value of proposals, including appropriate tradeoffs, risks and opportunities
  • Manage and lead a team of cloud compute staff
  • Ensure system stability, security and performance requirements
  • Diagnose, solve and deliver root cause analysis for issues related to cloud services.
  • Provide guidance on process improvements, standardization efforts, technology deployment and strategic and tactical implementations
  • Responsible for employee interaction in order to address client concerns/issues/projects/requests

Skills:

  • Knowledge and experience with Cloud services delivery, virtual computing services, IT service delivery and end user customer support services
  • Specific skills and experience in IT engineering areas including cloud services, data centers, wide area data networking, local area data networking, virtual computing, storage area networking, security and information risk and business resilience.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Engineering.
  • At least 5 years supervisory experience in managing a technical team, projects, and budgets
  • At least 10 years of Corporate IT engineering experience including Cloud Services, Operations, IT Support Services, Network Support and solid technical troubleshooting abilities
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Windows and VMWare products required
