Job Description

Memphis-based company iwth immediate need for Director of Internal Audit. Opportunity for travel to large, metropolitan areas across the U.S. and high visibility to C-level executives.

The Director of Internal Audit is responsible for preparing and implementing a risk-based audit plan to assess, report on, and make suggestions for improving the company's key operational and finance activities and internal controls. Additionally, the position is responsible for identifying and assisting in documenting existing internal finance and disclosure controls, implementing and documenting new internal controls, and establishing an internal monitoring function to audit the company's compliance.

Essential Duties:

  • Perform and control the full audit cycle including management and control management over operations' effectiveness, financial reliability and compliance with all applicable directives and regulations.
  • Lead and develop direct report team in support and execution of audit strategy.
  • Determine internal audit scope and develop annual plans.
  • Obtain, analyze, and evaluate accounting documentation, previous reports, data, flowcharts, etc.
  • Oversee and/or directly manage certain code of conduct investigations within areas of responsibility, including liaison with key stakeholders such as the legal department and human resources.
  • Prepare and present reports that reflect audit's results and document process.
  • Act as an objective source of independent advice to ensure validity, legality, and goal achievement.
  • Identify loopholes and recommend risk aversion measures and cost savings.
  • Document process and prepare audit findings memorandum.
  • Conduct follow-up audits to monitor management's interventions.
  • Engage in continuous knowledge development regarding sector's rules, regulations, best practices, tools, techniques, and performance standards.
