Job Description

Vaco is seeking a Director of Recruiting with Human Resources experience to support the HR department with overall recruitment, on-boarding, administration, coordination and evaluation of the human resources function. This individual would be both HR Manager and Recruiter, serving as the sole human resources employee. This position is projected to be 90% recruiting and 10% HR.

Job Duties

  • Maintain organization staff by personally recruiting, testing, and interviewing potential candidates.
  • Create job descriptions.
  • Create a recruiting and interviewing plan for each open position.
  • Review applicants to evaluate if they meet the position requirements.
  • Develop a pool of qualified candidates in advance of need.
  • Research and recommend new sources for active and passive candidate recruiting.
  • Build networks to find qualified passive candidates.
  • Counsel managers on candidate selection; conduct and analyze exit interviews; recommend changes.
  • Develops, recommends and implements personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains handbook on policies and procedures.
  • Prepares employees for assignments by establishing and conducting orientation and training programs.
  • Maintains the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions; scheduling and conducting job evaluations.
  • Ensures planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results by training managers to coach and discipline employees; scheduling management conferences with employees; hearing and resolving employee grievances; counseling employees and supervisors.
  • Maintains employee benefits programs and perform benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment, conducting educational programs on benefit programs, and annual re-evaluation of policies for cost-effectiveness.
  • Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements; conducting investigations; maintaining records; representing the organization at hearings.
  • Maintains management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures.
  • Maintains historical human resource records by designing a filing and retrieval system; keeping past and current records.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned. This is a small company, ability to wear/enjoy many hats REQUIRED.
  • Conduct prescreening interviews.
  • Assist in interviewing and selecting employees onsite.
  • Assist in performing reference and background checks for potential employees.
  • Assist in writing and forwarding rejection letters.
  • Assist in preparing and sending offer packages.
  • Assist in preparing and sending new employee orientation packages


  • High school diploma required; associates or bachelor's degree preferred
  • Corporate recruiting experience
  • Travel 4-8 times domestically for Pop Up Stores (between December through May).
  • Will need to take MRA
