Job Description

Vaco is working with a growing worldwide distribution company in Lawrenceville, GA to find a Director, Supply Chain for our client's North American operations. This is a new position due to growth and affords tremendous exposure to our client's Divisional CEO and COO.

The Director, Supply Chain is the senior leader of North American Operations with responsibility over Logistics, Warehouses, and Production. This includes Inventory Planning, Purchasing, Trafficking, Warehouse and Facilities Management, Production Control and Quality.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for North American supply chain activities.
  • Leads and directs processes and procedures for purchasing, including contract negotiations and delivery schedule.
  • Leads and directs warehouse processes and procedures, including inventory and transportation costs, traffic, and expediting requirements.
  • Provides necessary reports to senior management regarding inventory, warehouse costs, and transportation and shipping costs.
  • Plans, develops, organizes, directs, manages, and evaluates the personnel, operations, and budget of the supply chain department - logistics / warehouse.
  • Maintains adequate levels of material while adhering to corporate inventory objectives.
  • Develops analytics, systems, and data management capabilities, including metrics and reports.
  • Manages vendor relationships.
  • Oversees management of contracts and evaluation of services, maintains appropriate inventory, and monitors purchase of materials.
  • Analyzes inventories to determine how to increase inventory turns, reduce waste, or optimize customer service.
  • Negotiates contracts to ensure best cost structure with secure supply of materials and services.
  • Manages activities related to strategic or tactical purchasing, material requirements planning, inventory control, warehousing, and receiving.
  • Designs and implements supply chains that support business strategies adapting to changing market conditions, new business opportunities, or cost reduction strategies.
  • Builds, maintains and motivates the supply chain team in order to achieve productivity targets and output requirements to service clients.
  • Hires, trains, develops, directs, mentors, and evaluates team members to accomplish established goals. Takes corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with Company policy. Ensures compliance with current federal, state, and local regulations in consultation with appropriate team members
  • Other responsibilities as business conditions warrant

Requirements:
  • Bachelors Degree required
  • 10+ years of supply chain / logistics experience in a complex manufacturing or distribution environment
  • Experience with JDE or SAP a plus
  • Experience with inventory planning, order placement, receiving, warehousing, shipping etc.
  • Ability to design and implement new workflows and procedures.
  • Ability to develop strategic relationships
  • Proficiency in computer skills and MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated people management and leadership skills in prior supply chain / logistics roles
  • Ability to travel (including international travel) up to 25%
  • Only local, Metro Atlanta candidates considered at this time; no remote work options or relocation candidates currently being considered. Proximity to company's Lawrenceville headquarters will be considered.
