Vaco is working with a large, Birmingham-based organization to identify a Driver Payroll Specialist. Our client is an exceptional organization with strong corporate values and a family-friendly work environment.

Responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Process weekly driver settlement/payroll for 800 employees
  • Establish accurate payroll information files for all current, newly hired, and terminated owner operator contractors and employees
  • Track and update employee PTO time
  • Act as the contact person for driver managers regarding driver pay
  • Ensure procedures are followed for proper pay, reimbursements, and deductions
  • Meet payroll deadlines each week
  • Daily fuel download and processing
  • Perform month end closing tasks
  • Reconcile weekly/monthly invoices with AP and provide proper backup documentation of deductions and reimbursements
  • Understand proper coding of reimbursements, deductions, and earnings to the correct GL accounts
  • Compile weekly reports for payroll/benefits manager, ops manager, and accounting manager

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must be proficient in data entry functions
  • Must be organized, have keen attention to detail, and be accurate
  • Must have good communication and problem-solving skills
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks within specified timeframes
  • Must possess the ability to use sound judgment when making independent decisions
  • Knowledge of accounts receivable, and accounts payable processes a plus
