Vaco is looking for an Enterprise Software Architect for our client in Clearwater.


The Software Architect provides technical expertise over the execution of initiatives spanning multiple Strategic Business Units (SBUs) in the insurance and healthcare industries. Typical projects include:

  • Product development and enhancement
  • Client implementations
  • Data conversions
  • Post-acquisition corporate integrations
  • Software development

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Define, document, and communicate technical solutions to business needs
  • Ensure solutions come out in stages in a timely way so that the overall organization can make progress before completion
  • Ensure the software and system architectures are in synchronization
  • Ensure the business and management understands technical approaches and solutions
  • Ensure the right modeling is being done, to know what qualities such as performance are going to be met
  • Ensure that the architecture is not only the right one for operations, but also for deployment and sustainment
  • Ensure individual software development is under version control and release management. Experienced with code branching and the establishment of multiple environments spanning development, test, user acceptance test, production, and production fix


  • A minimum of five to ten (5-10) years of prior experience in software development. Two to three (2-3) years as a software architect.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to dive in, understand the business, and the needs of internal and external customers
  • IEEE 1471 experience
  • C#, Java/J2EE, .NET, Visual Studio, ASP (Entity Framework experience desired) or similar development skills
  • JavaScript, including use of jQuery, HTML and CSS or similar development skills
  • Web API development
  • Expertise in Microsoft SQL and relational databases
  • Expertise with SOAP and REST web services
  • In depth experience with iterative SDLC processes such as SCRUM, Agile, etc.
  • Modeling skills


  • Healthcare and / or insurance industry experience
  • OOAD/OOP/UML experience
  • Data conversion experience
  • Post M&A integration experience
  • MS TFS
