Job Description

The core purpose of the Estimating Manager is to manage Estimators within the System Solutions Group (SSG) through project assignment and supervision of the day-to-day activities of the estimating department. The Estimating Manager will have full responsibility for reviewing every estimate created within the department for completeness and accuracy. The Estimating Manager will work to responsibly provide quality estimates in support of the Vice President of Growth, Upfront Project Managers, Project Managers, etc.
This mid-management level position will strive to support all staff and management to meet internal and external deliverables including the presentation of proposals. The Estimating Manager is also responsible for the growth of the estimating department to meet the demand for capacity as established by the SSG VP. This growth includes recruiting, onboarding, and career development of Estimators.

Key Responsibilities
1. Lead and coach Estimators by setting goals and creating plans for optimal project assignment based on team workload, expertise, and project requirements within an environment that encourages learning and development.
2. Manage multiple projects simultaneously to meet deadlines while maintaining leadership and accuracy of the Estimators in the department.
3. Responsible for a complete and accurate final cost estimate for every project as well as an Executive Summary for review by leadership for every project.
4. Create and update a dashboard and tracking tool for estimates and other department metrics in addition to maintaining a schedule of projects in process, detailing the due date, lead estimator, and the System Solutions Team (SST) members working on each project.
5. Apply organizational skills in all areas to meet established standards for productivity and quality.
6. Assist with Concepting.
7. Maintain an updated list of component pricing to be used in estimate templates.
8. Maintain up to date estimate templates and create new templates as needed for new customers or project types.
9. Demonstrate a sense of urgency to ensure that time-sensitive tasks and deliverables are achieved with excellence within a high-pressure environment.
10. Actively participate in project capture meetings such as Bid Strategy, Proposal Kick-off, Proposal Status Meetings, subcontractor meetings, and estimate review meetings.
11. Facilitate ongoing performance feedback and professional development discussions with team members.
12. Perform all Estimator duties, as necessary.
13. Consistently provide excellent customer service with all external stakeholders and internal team members.
14. Strives to help the organization deliver successful projects (Safety, Timeliness, Execution, Quality, Profitability).
15. Protects the organization's value by keeping information confidential.
16. Seeks continued education by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
17. Maintain flexibility and strive to complete all other requests as directed by management.

* Associate degree in Engineering Technology or similar area; Bachelor's degree preferred.
* Five or more years' estimating experience with exposure to bookkeeping or accounting.
* Demonstrated supervisory experience required.
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience of Microsoft Excel.
* Proficient in other Microsoft Office products and database applications
* Evidence of ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
* Background in construction a plus
* AACEI Certified Estimating Professional (CEP) certification a plus
