Job Description

Vaco Indianapolis has partnered with a client located in Carmel to fill an Accountant role.

This is a potential contract to hire role.

This role performs intermediate/complex accounting functions and responsibilities requiring limited supervision. Utilizes general accounting and financial principles and techniques, and assists in obtaining, assembling, evaluating, interpreting, recording and analyzing financial data. Prepares and/or assists in preparation of financial reports and performs or assists in performance of financial analysis as directed. Responsible for maintenance of department records, for internal control, training of new employees and assisting as necessary in all phases of work in the department. Responsible for the application of accounting principles; pre-auditing, processing, and posting of accounting support documentation; maintenance of general ledger account. Responsible for development and preparation of a variety of regular and special financial reports.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Preparation of Quarterly and Annual Statutory Statement
    • Understand all pages of the statement and how they flow
  • Preparation and completion of the quarterly and annual regulatory filings
  • Assist with annul external audit. Complete requested materials including audited financial statements.
  • Assist with testing of new accounting systems or upgrades.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
  • Preform accounting functions as assigned including but not limited to
    • Journal Entries (weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual)
    • Reconciliation
    • Assist with monitoring audit engagements
    • Financial Reporting
      • Create/Maintain
      • Review
      • Analyze
    • Tax Returns
    • Misc. Filings
    • Standard Operating Procedures
    • Expense Review
  • Assist Staff Accountants and provide oversight
  • Preforms ad hoc financial analysis as required/requested
  • Provide feedback to management on how to improve processes
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.

Required Experience

  • 4 or more years of accounting experience
  • Attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines while effectively handling multiple projects
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks with varying level of difficulty
  • MS Office proficiency
