Vaco Richmond is currently recruiting for a Manager of Financial Reporting for an established, publicly traded Richmond based corporation. This position would report directly to the Controller and would be responsible for the SEC and GAAP reporting functions. This is a highly visible role that will work closely with the executive team.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the research and monitoring of accounting standards to assess the impact of new developments and modifications made by all major standard setting bodies.
  • Manages and/or performs the preparation of SEC documents including Forms10-Q and 10-K. Ensures the compilation of support for financial statements, notes and other disclosures.
  • Manage the preparation of the annual report, including collaborating and coordinating with internal and external counterparts to compile the necessary materials within established timelines.
  • Maintain documented processes and procedures in areas of responsibility. Ensures processes and procedures are in compliant with appropriate internal controls and follow best practices.
  • Prepare annual and quarterly shareholders' report to include financial statements and required footnotes.
  • Work with internal partners on initiatives to improve the organization including (but not limited to) new processes, procedures, system enhancements or acquisitions.
  • Provide consultation on technical accounting matters to the operating divisions, ensuring that all technical issues are addressed, resolved and properly documented in a timely manner in accordance with GAAP and SEC rules and regulations.
  • Lead the coordination of various aspects of the annual independent external audit and work with counterparts to ensure timely and accurate completion of audit report.

Qualifications:

  • BS/BA Accounting, CPA required
  • 5+ years of public accounting and/or corporate accounting experience
  • Strong technical accounting (US GAAP and SEC) and research skills
  • Ability to utilize quantitative and analytical skills to evaluate new and proposed GAAP standards, and provide recommendations to maintain or achieve compliance.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
