Fixed Assets / General Ledger Accountant - Successful, International Norfolk Co - Pay to $65K

Role and Responsibilities:

A successful and growing manufacturing company in Norfolk, VA is seeking a Fixed Assets / General Ledger Accountant to join its Norfolk corporate team.

The Fixed Assets / General Ledger accountant will take charge of fixed assets and perform general ledger month-end close and financial reporting in a stable, team environment.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Month-end close for multiple product lines including balance sheet reconciliations, GL close, and financial reporting and analysis.
  • Evaluate business investment projects for compliance with company capital policies and IFRS guidelines
  • Monitor capital spending and projects completion for proper accounting and classification of fixed assets
  • Maintain financial databases and report templates, and work closely with FP&A group for forecasting and financial reporting
  • Act as point of contact for capital / fixed assets
  • Perform month-end close of fixed asset ledger for multiple legal entities, including depreciation calculation using ERP system, journal entries, account reconciliations and variance analysis
  • Create and review monthly reports, including fixed asset roll forwards, capital expenditure and disposals
  • Ensure consistency in policy and procedures within capital and fixed assets. Coordinate with other business units to develop solutions for identified inconsistencies and the development of best practices.
  • Conduct fixed asset audits of company locations to ensure integrity of fixed-asset ledger.
  • Participate in interim and year-end external audit process, including directly working with the external audit team.
  • Contribute to the development of companywide financial policies and procedures and internal controls and implementation for all product lines.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with a Master's degree preferred
  • 2+ years fixed assets and general ledger accounting experience
  • Advanced Excel skills, and strong experience with an ERP and financial reporting tools
  • Excellent organizational and project management ability
  • Superior communication skills, including verbal and written communication; with ability to build rapport with all groups and levels within an international organization
  • Driven, team player with the ability to work under tight and competing deadlines
