The company provides SME support to identify, mitigate, and manage cyber security risks. This service aids the client in identifying cyber security challenges and creating viable solutions that may be implemented across a Program Management Office or an organization. Taranet assists clients in developing an organizational risk management framework that addresses risk assessment planning, risk tolerance, risk priorities and trade-offs, and risk monitoring strategies.

Day to Day:

  • Apply knowledge of IA policy and procedures to identify security weaknesses and gaps, as well as, security improvements
  • Apply knowledge of IA policy and procedures to plan, design, and implement security solutions
  • Assist in the development of the Configuration Management Strategy
  • Assist is development of the HW/SW configuration baselines
  • Assess the impact of Communications Tasking Orders (CTOs) on the system
  • Perform/support security planning, assessment, risk analysis, and risk management
  • Possess strong communication, presentation, and writing skills.
  • Have a proven track record of being a problem solver and team player who can work in a technically challenging environment.
  • Troubleshoot HBSS, as issues occur, to reduce the impact, identify the root cause, and provide a solution for deployment to the Fleet.
  • Develop Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) to facilitate modifications to the system baseline and meet with the Configuration Control Board (CCB) from stage 1 until final ECR approval

Must Have:

  • BS Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent
  • 3+ years' experience in HBSS configuration, management, and engineering
  • Active Security+
  • Ability to effectively interact via verbal and written communications with technical subject matter experts and program managers from multiple organizations.
  • Solid understanding and experience using and implementing DISA STIGs.


  • MS Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering
  • CISSP or associate certification
  • Experience using vulnerability scanning tools such as ACAS.
  • HIPS firewall policy development expertise, IPS and AW policy tuning is a plus
