Vaco has a full time opportunity for a HP Tools Engineer! This is a permanent role in Memphis, TN with one of our best clients!

Summary:

This position is operationally focused and ensures operational excellence by working closely with other member of the team and IT as a whole in the upkeep of HPSM, Omi, SiteScope, and UCMDB. The ideal candidate will be familiar with the connectivity between the toolsets and how they interact from a monitoring standpoint through the event lifecycle. Additionally the position requires that the candidate is familiar with the supports and upgrading of the applications. This position also includes ensuring that domain knowledge is institutionalized, providing technical supervision and leadership, using enterprise-level technical skills to coach team members, support customers, resolve problems, provide training as required, functional / technical requirements gathering, documentation, estimation, planning and project management. This may include the evaluation of new systems during the pre-implementation phases.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate clear communications concerning requirements, scope and schedule of the project.
  • Will be dedicated to working with the project to ensure that all aspects of the project are covered from a Tools perspective (discovery, modeling, monitoring and reporting)
  • Personnel will be taught on how to view, work and handle events reporting into the Omi Tool
  • Thresholding for the monitors both infrastructure and application will be discussed and implemented within SiteScope
  • Reporting on open events and incident availability issues; sending communications for the incidents which are business impacting
  • CIP/CSIP for the project with leadership on a reoccurring basis
  • Development of dashboard reporting to include information obtained from "digital exhaust"
  • HPSM administration and integration with HP monitoring tools (UCMDB, OMi...)
  • Regularly maintains, upgrades and supports existing systems to ensure operational stability for business groups.
  • Reviews and approves plans and schedules for the implementation of hardware and software changes to ensure continuity of service and successful deployments.
  • Works to maintain SLAs for the health of hardware and software systems and approves monitoring tools to be able to ensure that established SLAs are met.
  • Negotiates with vendors to ensure that all system requirements are met in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Maintains relationships with business area leaders, application development and architecture teams to ensure efficient operation of the systems across the enterprise.
  • Provides training on systems to maximize operator efficiency and increase speed and accuracy of customer service.
  • Provides customer support by answering business partners' questions and fostering a environment where they are contacted on issues that may be outside their immediate arena.
  • Has financial responsibilities - budgeting and monitoring expenses.
  • Leads operational projects - project estimation, monitor, control, and reporting.
  • Selects, develops, and motivates assigned staff.
  • Responsible for the development of less experienced mentors and teachers.
  • Performs functional / technical requirements gathering, documentation, estimation, planning and project management on enterprise-level projects.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering or related field preferred.
  • Typically requires ten or more years' experience based on consistently demonstrated capabilities.
  • Functional and/or business knowledge of assigned groups.
  • Technical skills may include experience with one or more of: HPSM, OMi, SiteScope, UCMDB, UNIX, Linux, Windows, Java, MS SQL, Informix, Oracle, TCP/IP, Networking, data analysis, computer operations, or customer service..
  • Expert problem solving, relevant domain and analytical skills.
  • Subject matter expertise in most functional areas.
  • Expert technical expertise in multiple technical areas.
  • People management/supervisory skills.
  • Presentation, facilitation and writing skills.
  • Advanced project management - estimating, planning, controlling, and execution.
  • Is the final authority on technical questions within their domain and is a regular source of technical supervision.
