Job Description

Vaco has a client with an immediate opening in Memphis area for an Intermodal Logistics Supervisor. The nature of this job requires an individual who has the leadership skills necessary to oversee all activities in our Intermodal Trucking Division.

  • Supervision and Management of our transportation and intermodal services through excellent communication and teamwork
  • Management of Independent Contractors Recruitment, Relations and Retention
  • Training and Development of Customer Service Coordinators and Dispatchers
  • Oversee Administration Staff to ensure accurate billing and invoicing to customers as well as accuracy of settlement payments to Independent Contractors
  • Continuous process improvements to increase reliability and lower service defects for missed customer appointments, per-diem and demurrage expenses.
  • Other duties as directed to support Company growth and strategies

  • College degree preferred
  • 5 years' experience in trucking industry (intermodal preferred)
  • 2 years of supervisory experience required
  • Strong working knowledge of HOS and DOT regulations
  • Experience with owner operator fleet preferred
  • Computer skills required: Microsoft office, familiarity with Transportation Management Systems
  • Responsible for managing trucking accident prevention programs, injury avoidance programs, cargo security programs, and D.O.T. and OSHA compliance programs. Must attain satisfactory CSA and DOT safety ratings.
  • Assist with programs geared towards improving driver orientation and retention
  • Assist in managing independent contractor defensive driving training program and a safe driver recognition program
  • Must have a thorough understanding of Federal weight laws and DOT requirements
  • Must have knowledge of hazardous materials regulations and be familiar with State and Federal safety laws
  • Must be computer literate and have intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs such as word, excel and PowerPoint. In addition, working knowledge of an e-mail system is necessary.
