The iSeries System Engineer will assist in the daily administration of the iSeries LPARs including performance monitoring, security, capacity planning, and system maintenance according to established policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Consult with software and hardware vendors and other sources to solve and prevent problems
  • Participate in testing, implementation and installation of new releases and applications
  • Provide support for iSeries hardware and software issues
  • Prepare for, test and participate in any and all disasters or emergencies as required
  • Produce monthly reports of system utilization (DASD utilization, CPU utilization, ETC)
  • Performance tuning
  • Configure, maintain and support iSeries operations
  • Review daily logs and reports to detect recurring slowdowns or errors
  • Assist with installation, replacement and upgrading system hardware
  • PTF management and administration
  • Create/update SOP manual as needed
  • Configure LPARs and allocate resources
  • Perform upgrades on OS/400 operating systems
  • On call duties to maintain 24/7/365 system availability
