Vaco has a 12+ month contract for an IT Applications Project Manager in West Houston.

Our of our top clients is kicking off multiple project initiatives for 2019 and needs additional project managers to support their 2019 project portfolio. Our client is enhancing current applications and designing and developing new application and business solutions for both the internal, enterprise organization as well as customer-facing systems to support their core business operations.

The majority of the projects involve the design, development, implementation of custom-developed applications. Experience with managing these types of project is hard requirement. The foundation technologies for the existing application architectures is Microsoft .NET; however, the company is transitioning to a cloud-first platform strategy so many of the new application development initiatives will be designed and developed using cloud-based technologies (primarily Microsoft).

The company is currently looking for a mid-level (5-7 years) project manager (PM) with a strong background in managing custom application development projects. In this position, the PM could be assigned to manage and deliver on multiple, smaller projects or 1-2 larger projects. The ability to manage multiple, concurrent project workstreams will be an important experience base. Project team size can vary depending the size and scope of assigned projects but will generally fall in the range of 2-6 technical team members.

In this role, the PM is expected to engage in the full lifecycle of a project. This include working directly with business stakeholder in the Plan phase to identify/confirm business requirements, establish the project scope, and gain commitment from the business on the work to be performed and the expected results. The PM is expected to create and maintain all necessary project management and controls processes and tools including workplans, resource plans, project schedules, issues management, deliverables management, project status reporting, financial reporting, etc. The PM will manage all aspects of the project during all SDLC phases.

Required/preferred experience requirements include:

  • Required - managing custom application development projects - .NET preferred
  • Required - demonstrated experience in managing full SDLC projects
  • Required - demonstrated experience with direct engagement with business stakeholders
  • Required - demonstrated experience in project management best practices and methodologies
  • Preferred - experience with cloud-based technologies - Microsoft Azure preferred
