Job Description

Vaco UK is in search of a Regional Infrastructure Specialist I in Munich, Germany for a direct hire/full time opportunity.

With our clients service architect roles for all of Global Infrastructure residing in Dallas, TX, operational services are left to the appropriate Regional Infrastructure Specialist team in Munich. This position will support a set of tiered services according to the local business needs, while ensuring global services are consistent, cost-efficient, reliable, stable, scalable, and secure. Propose and develop solutions based on the standard global services to ensure business requirements feed into the roadmap with the appropriate architectural model, ensuring the service meets or exceeds the business needs and provides the necessary level of integration with other services

The primary responsibilities of this position are:

  • Provide post project implementation support within region
  • Promote Global Infrastructure Services
  • Liaise with regional personnel and identify GI service improvements
  • Ensure that specific GI services are managed in a proactive and effective manner

This position has functional responsibility for the:

  • Implement and support in the following areas:
    • Active Directory
    • Client Hardware standards including printers and other peripherals
    • Client software standards
    • Patch management tools and processes including client and server systems
    • Group policies for client systems
    • Server environment including Application and F&P servers
  • Ensure that client services remain cost-efficient, reliable, stable, scalable and secure
  • Participate in identifying and working towards providing a seamless and integrated service infrastructure
  • Ensure service performance meets or exceeds business expectations and is delivered in accordance with SLAs
  • Document Infrastructure application landscapes, operational support activities.
  • Produce support documentation (to be stored in the Global Knowledge Base)
  • Contribute to configuration management information and ensure inventories are maintained at all times
  • Work closely with the GI architectural staff to identify technology that could benefit the business.
  • Communicate service outages and changes to the business effectively
  • Work with IT units to reduce the number of IT incidents through effective Incident and Problem Management. Contribute to root cause analysis and problem reviews.
Recommend direction and utilization of technologies to IT management

Operational Responsibilities

  • System and environmental monitoring including Windows Eventlog
  • Identification and handling of hardware issues. This includes management of 3rd party vendors providing contracted hardware support.
  • Identification and handling of operating system issues.
  • Monitoring of disk space on all servers.
  • Performing and checking system and application backups.
  • Checking of successful Anti-Virus updates.
  • Disable idle users as reported by the existing monitoring.
  • Handle all requests from FTS staff regards user administration or setup of new cases in certain applications.
  • Database health checks
  • Patch management according to the Global Standard processes
  • User Rights Audit: Capacity management understanding for proactive remediation
    • Analyse access permissions on shared folders using an automatically generated report. Any misconfiguration needs to be reported and corrected.
    • Compile list of external users with access to A&M systems.
    • Compile list of disabled users.
  • Recovery exercise of single systems to ensure the restore of the backups is working.
Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4 years I.T. experience in a large technical environment
  • Proven ability to work with all levels of management throughout the organisation and develop business partnerships.
  • Customer focused and service orientated
  • Possess the ability to articulate and to communicate well in English (verbally and written)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required; able to work well in the overall team, including Dallas colleagues
  • Aware of the importance of SLA's and Key Performance Indicators (KPI's); experience of performing in line with documented SLA's
  • Aware of IT support processes (Incident, Problem, Change and Configuration Management)
  • Understanding of how IT infrastructure components support the business
  • Pro-active and methodical working style with a positive and 'can do' attitude
  • Analytical and organizational skills
  • Must have experience identifying and implementing technology solutions.
  • Willingness to travel internationally
  • Requires specialist technical knowledge in
    • Active Directory, Microsoft Hyper-V, Windows Server OS, MS applications (including Office and Outlook/Exchange), HP Server iLO, HP 3Par storage, desktop and laptop hardware, software deployment technologies, McAfee antivirus, remote control software, network administration, TCP/IP, printers (various types) Cisco network technologies.
