Job Description

Our client is looking for a Manager to lead IT Service Delivery team that manages the technology infrastructure and supports the implementation technology initiatives in support of strategic goals for the national organ donation and transplantation network.

Scope of IT Services Operations includes networks, hosting, storage, big data, own and 3rd party data centers. The Manager is responsible for managing the service levels for the network infrastructure including routers, switches, wireless controllers and access points, network optimizers and wide area network connections.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coach and manage an IT operations team responsible for a highly available, critical web services platform built on .net, SQL Server, Linux, Hadoop
  • Partner across the organization to ensure the development and implementation of comprehensive services and solutions to meet business requirements
  • Support the definition and enforcement of ITIL-based policies
  • Manage datacenter operations, networking and disaster recovery functions
  • Foster a team environment of curiosity and continuous improvement
  • Establish, track and review SLAs and KPIs for operational services and meet defined performance measures
  • Identify, measure, benchmark, analyze and perform regular review of capacity
  • Recruit, mentor, coach and develop team members. Analyze results for trends, process improvement opportunities and staff training needs and take appropriate action to improve results
  • Ensure continuity of operations and manage the technical life cycle of assets
  • Assist in the development and management of budgets for capital and operating expenses
  • Communicate, both verbally and in writing, to explain how the various technical pieces work to provide useful solutions to the business.
  • Manage the IT operations team on-call schedule
  • Effectively manage third party operations vendor relationships ensuring proper service levels

Minimum Requirements

5 years of IT management experience in a 24x7 operational environment

Critical Skills

  • Strong understanding of .net technologies, virtualization, and databases
  • Strong understanding of datacenter networking including load balancers, DNS and wide area networks
  • Experience with datacenters and datacenter management
  • Experience with network operations centers
  • Experience with server virtualization technologies
  • Experience using ITIL practices for change, incident and problem management
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Experience working in an agile environment using either SCRUM or Kanban
  • History of demonstrating excellent technology leadership and decision making
  • Experience building dashboards to accurately reflect the user experience
  • Experience with independent audits (e.g. ISO)

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Familiarity with cloud-based platforms (AWS, Azure, Rackspace)
  • Familiarity with Linux system technologies
  • Solid understanding of storage technologies
  • Attention to security issues and vulnerability management
  • A bias for action and a curious nature that is comfortable questioning the status quo
  • The ability to instill trust and confidence in business partners and team members

Education

4-year degree in Information Technology or related field, or equivalent work experience
