Junior Staff Accountant - Contract - Durham, NC

As Junior Staff Accountant, you will play an integral role in accurately preparing our client's accounting records and performance. You will be responsible for a variety of general accounting functions as well as assist and work closely with Controller to complete daily tasks and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate and complete monthly close procedures
  • Assist internal financial reporting and assure compliance with internal controls
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations
  • Run queries and reports to ensure timely close of month end, quarter end, year end processes
  • Works proactively with Controller to establish departmental procedures and protocol
  • Assists with budget and forecast process
  • Preparation of monthly management reporting package and related Management Discussion & Analysis
  • Assists with the maintenance and integrity of data and information within the General Ledger
  • Prepares income statement analysis
  • Follows up on assigned projects in a timely manner, providing regular updates to appropriate members of staff
  • Interacts with other departments providing information, as appropriate
  • Assists with financial and tax audits
  • Regularly participates in meetings and is dependable as an internal/external resource on assigned projects
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree related to finance or accounting, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of general accounting including thorough skills knowledge plus the application of general accounting theory.
  • Working knowledge of, Quickbooks and Microsoft Office with a proficiency in Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
