Job Title Reports To Department


Head Accountant - MPS

VP Sales

Accounting - Southfield Office



Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly reporting of Southfield sales office
  • Prepare monthly reconciliation of various balance sheet accounts
  • Ensure integrity of general ledger and sub-ledgers
    • Prepare and enter journal entries
      • Administer bi-weekly payroll and coordinate new hire process
      • Record expenses for US based employees
      • Prepare annual budgets and quarterly reforecasts, and track to actual results
        • Invoice external customers and internal divisions for services performed by US Engineering Group
        • Prepare capital expenditure reporting and coordinate capital approval process
          • Assist with monthly reporting of global product services group
          • Assist with the administration of benefit plans and deductions, including 401K
          • Assist Corporate tax department with tax filings
          • Liaise with Finance teams in the Corporate and Group Offices to ensure an effective communication process
            • Travel to locations in Canada may be required
              • Support ad hoc projects as needed
                • Adopt, practice, and participate in Kaizen Principles and Concepts and GEAR activities
                • Perform other duties as assigned



Basic Requirements:

  • Professional designation (CPA) is preferred.
    • Strong accounting and analytical skills and attentive to details
      • Organized, accurate and takes pride and ownership in his/her work
      • Strong work ethic, highly responsible for meeting deadlines, and dedicated focus on task execution and completion
        • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with people at all levels
        • Confident and self-assured yet flexible and open to new ideas
        • Works well independently, a problem solver, and takes initiative to get things done without being asked
          • Works well in a team-oriented multicultural environment and adapts readily to different personalities



Software experience:

  • Excellent proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint and MS Outlook (or equivalent email service) is required
  • ADP or other payroll software
  • Ability and willingness to learn to use various computer applications that are necessary to perform day-to-day tasks
    • Experience with ERP software is required. IBM Cognos (or other consolidation software), SAP is preferred.
