Job Description

Our client, a well-established law firm in the Birmingham area is looking for a Legal Billing Clerk. The legal billing clerk will be responsible for processing a high volume of legal invoices as well as other projects. Some electronic billing experience is required. A successful billing clerk will have relevant experience working legal invoices and has 3+ years of experience, as well as advanced Excel skills.

Responsibilities:​

  • Prepare, review and distribute pre-bills
  • Work closely with assigned attorneys to make edits
  • Prepare final bills per client specifications
  • Submit bills through client-specific e-billing portals
  • Respond to questions from internal staff regarding billing
  • Ensure compliance with billing and collections procedures
  • Work with accounting team to ensure accurate month-end close​

Legal Billing Clerk Requirements:

  • 3+ years of billing experience with a law firm
  • Electronic billing (e-billing) experience a plus
  • High school diploma required, Associate's or Bachelor's degree a plus
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to develop internal relationships with staff and attorneys at all levels within the organization
