Vaco is working with a Tuscaloosa law firm to identify a Legal Secretary or Paralegal to assist with large, internal projects. The legal secretary will work primarily on document review and producing documents by transcribing, formatting, editing and transmitting text, data and graphics.

Responsibilities:

Draft routine legal documents

Assist with preparation of depositions, including gathering and organizing exhibits

Assist with trial preparation (deposition designations, exhibit and witness list, organize exhibits, files and other supporting documents)

Conduct various document searches and factual research

Maintains attorney calendar by planning and scheduling conferences and teleconferences; recording and monitoring court appearance dates, pleadings, and filing requirements; monitoring evidence-gathering; anticipating changes in case preparation and filing requirements.

Requirements:

Minimum 3 years of experience in the legal industry

Experience with bankruptcy is a plus

Ability to effectively set priorities, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects for several attorneys

Ability to search database programs and assist with organizing, summarizing and/or categorizing documents

Experience preparing for trials and/or arbitrations

Strong verbal and written communication skills
