Position Description

This position provides management and oversight to ensure high quality programming and database management support to the Research department, members, transplant community and internal departments. The Manager of Data Analytics will provide complex programming support, specific leadership functions include recruitment, coaching, performance evaluation, staff effort allocation, and organizational planning activities.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership

  • Lead a team of Data Analysts and Senior Data Analysts responsible for providing programming and database management support.
  • Proactively identify and prioritize business and research data needs and work with other members of the leadership team to develop initiatives to improve the Department's analytical capabilities.
  • Direct and oversee the ongoing maintenance of the current analytical datasets used in support of department objectives.
  • Develop and implement processes and programmatic conventions (i.e., error-checking, troubleshooting, etc.) that ensure a high quality of programming and data management support.
  • Manage workload capacity of staff to effectively achieve department objectives through project assignment and oversight.
  • Mentor and guide development of team.
  • Proactively identify and direct the use of analytic tools (R Markdown, SAS macros, VBA macros, etc.) to automate report and dataset generation.

Data Analytics Support

  • Utilize advanced programming techniques to produce understandable and usable output (datasets, reports, tables and figures) from various data sources driven by project specific needs, adhering to department standards and procedures including documentation of work.
  • Assist in the preparation of analytic results in the form of both data and written reports, manuscripts and abstracts/posters for professional meetings.
  • Research, master, and share new methods and technologies for data management, automation, and reporting.
  • Develop solutions to problems where established theories and techniques have not been identified or where procedures are not established.
  • Develop, manage, and document project-specific analytic datasets and analytics data marts.
  • Merge data files from different platforms and sources using advanced linkage where needed.
  • Utilize advanced programming techniques to produce understandable and usable output (datasets, reports, tables and figures) from various data sources driven by project specific needs, adhering to department standards and procedures including documentation of work.

Minimum Requirements

  • 5 years of data analytics, analysis, programming or other related experience required. 7-10 years of experience strongly preferred.
  • 2 years of people management experience required. 4+ years of management experience preferred.

Critical Skills

  • Proven experience with SQL, R, SAS or related tool required. Advanced programming experience preferred.
  • Must have knowledge of SQL, R, and/or SAS and be able to converse effectively with all Research staff including Research Scientists/Analysts, Data Scientists, and Data Analysts.
  • Proven data analysis, data verification and problem solving abilities.
