Systems Engineering Manager to lead delivery of infrastructure and software services in a DevOps environment while coaching and mentoring the team. Tech stack includes Kubernetes, CEPH, Rancher, Gitlab, Linux, CENTOS, VMware, and Operators (i.e. Clickhouse, Couchbase, Elastic, Kafka.) Infrastructure responsibilities include SANS, servers, fiber channel and ISCSI networks, blade computing, and load balancers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the team in building stable, scalable, and distributed services and solutions.
  • Manage infrastructure supporting applications and services; server, san, and networking aspects.
  • Manage lifecycle of assets supporting the applications and services; maintain stable product versions and updated hardware.
  • Collaborate with peer Engineering and Development teams to implement and maintain enterprise platform applications.
  • Work with the leadership to iterate on the strategic roadmap.
  • Advocate for the team and its initiatives to IT Senior Leadership, Product Leadership, and other leaders throughout the organization.
  • Work with leadership throughout the organization to further the implementation of our business initiatives.
  • Help identify and remove obstacles to project execution
  • Evangelize the importance and role of the department and team throughout the organization

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 2+ years of engineering management experience
  • 10+ years of overall IT experience

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to ensure engineers remain motivated through coaching, mentoring, and performance management
  • Ability to influence the team, peers and upper management using effective communication and collaborative techniques.
  • Focus on building and maintaining a culture of collaboration within the team
  • Experience leading and working with cross functional teams
  • Experience running production systems and managing teams that are on call
  • Experience with vendor management and negotiation
  • Work in Easten Standard Time while appreciating time zones of global team

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Experience with technologies including but not limited to; Kubernetes, OpenShift, Ansible, Gitlab, Linux, VMWare, Nimble, Equalogic, Dell Servers, Windows, Active Directory, CentOS, SQL, Rancher, Docker
  • Experience in a DevOps environment
  • Experience managing teams implementing stability in the infrastructure
  • Experience working with and managing infrastructure
  • Experience working with and managing networks
  • Experience building high performing, global teams
