Job Description

Responsible for providing creative marketing communications support for various marketing and service departments. Supports the development of internal and external collateral, including print and public relations materials, video productions and interactive media elements to support fundraising programs managed by the departments. Works with Marketing team to execute strategies to increase awareness of St. Jude in an effort to educate as well as enhance the public image among donors and volunteers.


  • Uses a high degree of concentration to manage marketing communications and creative projects for the Departments (Strategic Partnerships, Sports, Multicultural Marketing and Business Development and internal partners including Human Resources, Finance, IT and others) and other programs as assigned. Works effectively and professionally in a team environment, negotiates priorities and timelines diplomatically, and maintains composure and production quality under deadline pressure. Initiates work and follows through on projects with minimal direction and/or in ambiguous situations. Performs essential job functions in an established office environment under normal climate control tolerances.
  • Manages all creative projects for fundraising programs in assigned areas. Interfaces with key individuals in client departments to evaluate needed creative materials for traditional and interactive media. Coordinates with Creative Services, Public Relations and Digital teams to develop materials and ensure delivery by agreed upon deadline.
  • Manages video production projects for creative support as needed. Works with Creative Media Services team to conceptualize the video, ensure appropriate scripts and storyboards are created, and present to partner departments. Obtains all necessary approvals. Works with Creative Media Services team on timelines and schedules video shoots as needed. Responsible for organizing and overseeing video and film shoots. Works closely with the Creative Media Services team or an outside producer/director to meet deadlines. Uses a high degree of autonomy to work out logistics of the shoot with Event Marketing and Patient Engagement team members assigned to the job in order to ensure proper scheduling and logistics, including lining up of interview subjects in advance, selecting patients to participate and obtaining permission from their parents.
  • Responsible for escorting camera crew to ensure hospital operations are not impeded and appropriate footage is obtained. Manages all post-shoot requirements including providing B-roll of hospital footage, transparencies and still photographs; additional information on patients, doctors and other interview subjects; and any other requests the producer/director might have in order to complete the project. Serves as liaison between Creative Media Services and partner departments to ensure that the finished product meets the expectations of the partners.
  • Works with Public Relations to manage media and communications aspects of media events on-campus or at off-campus events. Includes evaluating shoot needs, preparing shot lists; ensuring proper shooting guidelines are shared with and followed by media visitors, and escorting media, video or photography crews at events.
  • Works with Marketing team to analyze marketing communications efforts and to create reports for partner departments to assist them with evaluation of return on investment (ROI).
  • Builds and maintains positive relationships with partner departments. Anticipates day-to-day needs of partners and provides timely support; understands partners' strategic initiatives and provides innovative solutions; actively seeks solutions to address process or creative production challenges.
  • Provides clear guidance to creative teams within the Marketing department in support of partners' creative marketing needs. Initiates creative planning meetings, ensuring jobs are opened promptly in the trafficking system, and obtains proper approvals throughout the production process of the job. Serves as the liaison between the partners and creative teams and communicates regularly with both parties throughout creative production process.
  • Assists Marketing team members with projects, duties and media events as assigned by Marketing team.


    • Requires thorough knowledge of journalism and/or communications/public relations;
    • Ability to speak and write in a clear and understandable manner for internal/external relations;
    • Excellent organizational and project management skills
    • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office programs

    • Photographic knowledge including how to take photos and how to recognize a powerful photo; knowledge ordinarily acquired through a Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field with at least 3 years of relevant experience in journalism, public relations and/or marketing communications.
    • Must possess a valid driver's license
