Mortgage Processor - 6m contract - $16.80/hr.

Location: Raleigh, NC

Pay: $16.80/hr.

Length: 6-month contract


This is a wonderful opportunity to join a leading insurance holding company, serving the lifestyle protection, retirement income, investment and mortgage insurance needs of more than 15 million customers, with operations in 25 countries, including the U.S., Canada, Australia, the U.K. and more than a dozen other European countries.


Must be able to work in a dynamic environment and be a self-starter. Strong written and oral communication skills, self-motivation, attention to detail, and ability to perform work under pressure of time constraints are required.

The position responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

* Process primary, secondary/supplemental and CALHFA mortgage insurance certificate cancellation of coverage requests in adherence to the Homeowner Protection Act of 1997 effective in July 29, 1999 and all state Department of Insurance requirements and in accordance with Genworth internal policies and internal controls.

* Review and analyze documentation provided by 3rd parties to determine appropriate course of action with regards to the return of Genworth issued cancellation of coverage checks.

* Process all aspects related to the rescission and reinstatement of mortgage insurance coverage including but not limited to the system processing, calculation of refund of premium, communication to third parties of premium due and the management and related response of all inquiries internally and externally regarding certificate coverage status in accordance to departmental policies/procedures.

* Monitor and resolve all system rejected cancellation transactions.

* Perform an audit on a representative sample from a population of daily system generated rescission cancellations for accuracy and completeness.

* Perform an audit on a representative sample from a population of daily system generated return of insurance premiums for accuracy and completeness.

* Monitor and reduce the number of suspense items by actively engaging 3rd party participation in resolution and prevent reoccurrence. Manage and resolve any issues relating to premium payments received after cancellation of coverage.

* Prepare and review for correctness reporting on Homeowner Protection Act of 1997 cancellations for adherence to corporate compliance requirements.

* Perform other duties as assigned.


* College degree or equivalent related work experience for at least two to four years in mortgage insurance, mortgage banking or banking industry.

* Intermediate technical knowledge/skills in Microsoft Office Suite 2007 to include Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint.

* Must have familiarity with legal agreements/contracts.

* Ability to thrive in a dynamic work environment.

* Must possess effective critical thinking skills.

* Proven ability to handle multiple priorities and tasks.

* Strong interpersonal skills; Solid written and oral communication skills.
