Vaco UK has partnered with a London client in search of a Music Content Specialist who knows the Central Eastern Europe music scene for a long term contract that is renewed yearly.


Music Content Specialist: Central Eastern Europe

Job Description:

As a Music Content Specialist, you are a self-starter who will ramp up quickly to contribute to our Music Programming team. You have experience working as a playlist curator, music journalist or critic, or editor for a digital music service. You are well-versed in the music -- from mainstream to niche genres -- and popular culture most relevant in the CEE region. You are a music expert, but are also able to understand and program to the interests of an average music listener in the Czech Republic and wider CEE region.

Additionally, you bring strong analytical abilities and impeccable oral and written communication skills. You possess a high degree of comfort and flexibility when working cross-functionally with product, design, marketing, engineering, and other teams to develop an innovative user experience. You enjoy working both independently and collaboratively to develop new ideas and scalable processes. You bring a proven ability to prioritize, meet critical deadlines, and take on challenging tasks with enthusiasm and a problem-solving mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Pitch, create, and optimize programmed music features across a range of genres in tune with user interests

  • Conduct metrics-based analysis of playlist performance and provide recommendations for enhancing their effectiveness

  • Support product, partner and technical teams to troubleshoot user-facing issues

  • Work with other teams to ensure all music content needed for programming is ordered and ingested

  • Contribute to global programming team and its efforts to drive site improvements and innovative features on behalf of users worldwide

  • Contribute to product improvements, including back catalog selection and metadata quality

Daily Responsibilities

  • Create, update, optimise, commission and QA a set of music playlists for the Czech Republic and wider CEE region

  • Maintain the Music Programming calendar for your markets

  • Monitoring - and reacting to - the performance of playlists and campaigns

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS required (Manager is open to degree).

  • 2-3 years in an editorial/programming role for a mobile, music or online digital content business

  • Ability to speak and write in Czech and English fluently and idiomatically

  • Deeply passionate about music

  • Deep knowledge and understanding of the music industry in CEE

  • Strong editorial and creative skills -- ability to craft messaging and work with design and production resources to drive creative execution.

  • Strong analytical skills; ability to analyze research or performance data and apply that analysis to optimize our programming strategy

  • Experience working with both external and internal partners on co-promotion or cross-promotion strategies and campaigns

  • Knowledge of and experience with online best practices

  • High attention to detail, ability to maintain several different projects simultaneously, while creating precise and effective customer-facing communications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (MBA/MS) a plus.

  • Experience working for a music streaming service
