Network Engineer - Infrastructure Engineer

Location: Irvine

Duration: Contract to Hire

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

The Engineer will be part of an industry leading IT team working in a fast-paced environment. The individual is responsible for deploying and maintaining I.T. infrastructure equipment and technologies and ensuring the overall health of the network and systems infrastructure critical for business continuity. The Engineer, will be responsible for providing upper tier support and ensuring infrastructure issues are resolved promptly. The incumbent is required to build, maintain, and resolve issues to ensure maximum availability to users.


  • Deploy new I.T. Infrastructure equipment and technologies throughout the enterprise.Design and maintain I.T. Infrastructure technologies throughout Support Centers and supported offices.
  • Work with the engineering and operations teams to design and implement new technologies.
  • Ensure uptime and functionality of infrastructure systems and services critical for business continuity at Support Centers and supported offices.
  • Work with the Operations teams to ensure deployments do not cause a disruption to uptime and functionality of critical IT systems.
  • Resolve and provide root cause analysis on issues pertaining to supported systems and devices. Escalate issues to management as necessary.
  • Analyze data gathered during root cause analysis of issues related to new technologies and provide solutions to improve the deployment process and prevent future downtime.
  • Identify device(s) causing issues and work with team members internally and externally to provide and implement solutions as necessary.
  • Interface with vendors as necessary to build, maintain, and resolve issues pertaining to supported applications, appliances, and data circuits.
  • Analyze network traffic utilizing packet capture analysis tools such as Wireshark and monitoring systems such as ExtraHop and SolarWinds.
  • Create, update and maintain functionality of scripts and automated jobs.
  • Create and maintain documentation of systems, procedures, training, and troubleshooting guides that will be utilized by IT and non-IT personnel.
  • Provide and validate backup and disaster recovery processes and procedures.
  • Implement Network, system, and security access policies; perform periodic security analysis support.
  • Analyze configuration of network infrastructure and provide recommendations to improve performance.
  • Work with Security teams to design and document the patching process for endpoints, servers, and appliances throughout Support Centers and supported offices; Support IT teams in Patching appliances and applications on regular intervals and as needed.

  • REQUIRED:

    • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college in MIS, Computer Science or related field. In lieu of degree, 6+ years' of experience is required or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • 4+ years' experience with Windows system administration in a multi-site domain. Experience managing Active Directory, GPO's, DHCP, DNS, SPN's, WINS, Windows Clustering and Failover services, and load-balanced configurations.
    • 4+ years' experience working with virtualization technology, SSL certificates, IIS, AWS, Patch Management Systems such as Tanium and WSUS, and Office365.
    • 2+ years' experience working in a cloud hybrid environment or 4+ years' experience working in a multi-datacenter environment.
    • 5+ years' experience working with network infrastructure devices such as routers, switches, and firewalls.
    • Experience with MS Windows 2008 R2, Windows 2012 R2, and Windows 2016.
    • Experience configuring Windows Failover Cluster services.
    • AWS Certifications: Cloud Practitioner, SysOps Administrator, and Solutions Architect - Associate.
    • Experience analyzing network traffic utilizing packet capture analysis tools such as Wireshark.
    • Experience working in a Citrix environment.
    • Experience working with monitoring tools such as PerfMon and Solarwinds.
    • Experience interpreting network analytic reports and troubleshooting assessments.
    • Experience implementing and supporting VPN solutions.
    • Experience with Aruba devices.
    • CCNA/JNCIA or MCSA 2008/2012 certifications.

    PREFERRED:

    • Experience with Comodo, ADFS 2.0, ADFS 3.0, HP ILO, Dell IDRAC, management of Linux servers, and/or scripting with AWS EC2.
    • AWS Certifications: Advanced Networking - Specialty, DevOps Engineer and Solutions Architect - Professional.
    • Experience analyzing network traffic utilizing packet capture analysis tools such as Wireshark.
    • Experience interpreting voice, video and network analytic reports and troubleshooting assessments.
    • MCSE, MCSP, JNCIE, CCIE.
    • Experience with Juniper SRX and EX series products, Palo Alto devices and/or Extrahop.

    KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

    • Intermediate working knowledge of scripting languages necessary to support a Windows environment.
    • Working knowledge of Linux commands, SSH, and SCP.
    • Experience and knowledge of Terminal Server / Citrix environments and thin client administration.
    • Knowledge of different RAID types and proper applications of each type.
    • Expert working knowledge of disk size formatting, cluster sizing, and appropriate applications.
    • Working knowledge of VMFS, RDMS, and Quorum file systems.
    • Expert working knowledge of Active Directory and Windows domain environments.
    • Expert working knowledge of backup and recovery systems, scripting and native backup applications.
    • Intermediate working knowledge of LAN/WAN topologies pertaining to a large enterprise environment.
    • Experience with virtual and cloud technologies such as VMware vSphere 5.5, AWS and Azure.
    • Working knowledge of Linux commands required to troubleshoot and support Linux systems.
    • Experience with change management practices.
    • Working knowledge of wireless technologies and security.
    • Expert working knowledge of circuit provisioning and de-provisioning with vendors.
    • Expert working knowledge of VLANs and subnetting.
    • Expert working knowledge of the OSI model and related protocols.
    • Intermediate working knowledge of network services such as DHCP, DNS, WINS and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve related issues.
    • Intermediate working knowledge of spanning tree protocol and BGP.
    • Ability to manage change and do extremely well in a fast-paced environment under time constraints.
