Job Description

Design, implement, and provide ongoing support for network environment (local and wide area networks).

Responsibilities include: Installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, performance monitoring, management and optimization to ensure stability and integrity of the data, voice, video and wireless networks; implement network security standards; development and testing of backup and recovery procedures; problem identification and resolution; network conceptual and logical designs; network documentation.

Other duties could include: IP administration functions; content switch network configuration and support; 3rd party software installation/configuration. Assist in the research, analyze and recommend standards, procedures, and new technologies to improve network availability, performance, and recovery. Assess project proposals for compliance with network standards, risk, implementation and ongoing support requirements, and ability to meet proposed timelines. Perform the role of network project lead on assigned projects and support initiatives. Organize and lead meetings. Actively participate in project teams. This position may be required to access confidential data in order to perform job responsibilities. On-call support responsibilities are required.

Job Opening Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in computer science or another applicable area of study plus three (3) years of experience in network design, implementation and support is required; however, an equivalent combination of education and/or relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree. Examples of relevant work experience include healthcare experience, project management, network design and support, and Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CCIE.

The following is desirable and considered a plus:

  • Certifications such as those offered by CISCO Systems (CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, CCDA), or Project Management Certifications (PMP) certifications.
  • Hands-on experience with the following products is desired: Router/switch network hardware and operating systems, firewalls, wireless architectures, location services, VoIP, access control products (i.e. Cisco products, ACS, TACACS, VPN); network management, monitoring and support tools (such as NimBUS, Statseeker, SolarWinds and network protocol analyzers).
  • Familiarity with the following products is considered a plus: AirMagnet, Juniper Firewalls, Radius, AeroScout RFID architectures, UNIX and Microsoft operating systems.
