Our client is looking for a Systems Engineer with hands on, practical experience designing, implementing, and supporting Microsoft, VMware, and Cisco solutions with proven ability to manage complex IT projects that require strong attention to detail and broad technical knowledge. Skilled problem identifier and troubleshooter adept at obtaining timely results in a fast paced, constantly changing environment.

The Systems Engineer is responsible for providing operational engineering and support for our client's hybrid cloud infrastructure. This includes developing, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing key functional areas, particularly network and server infrastructure, data communications, and telecommunications systems.

  • Manage production and pre-production technology systems in a hybrid cloud/datacenter environment
  • Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools
  • Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
  • Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes
  • Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies
  • Manage and support Active Directory (Directory Services, DNS, GPO)
  • Configure and install software, servers, firewalls and other network devices
  • Troubleshoot issues and outages
  • Ensure security through access controls, backups and firewalls
  • Participate in strategic projects
  • Monitor productions systems, respond to and troubleshoot incidents
  • Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation
  • Coordinate with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
  • Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • MCSE/MCSA/CCNA and/or other relevant certifications
  • Detailed knowledge of TCP/IP based networks and associated technologies
  • Well-rounded knowledge of networking (LAN, WAN, VLAN, Routing, VPN, etc.)
  • Experience with Cisco ASA or Barracuda firewalls preferred. Previous experience with firewall integration is required
  • Experience with Imperva, F5 or Barracuda Web Application Firewalls preferred. Previous experience with load balancers and WAFs required
  • Expert-level knowledge of Active Directory, including Group Policy creation and management
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex networking problems in a 24x7 environment
  • Experience with automated monitoring systems and technologies, with practical knowledge of MS SCOM, and SCCM, and automated patching procedures
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure and O365 Administration preferred
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, flexibility in concepts and action, able to handle aggressive mission critical deadlines
  • Looks for any areas of improvement and suggests changes, rather than waiting for direction
  • Experience scripting in PowerShell preferred
  • Strong proficiency in VMware VSphere and cloud management technologies preferred
  • Experience working with outsourced vendors
