Job Description

NOC Analyst, $45-55K

Vaco Technology is assisting a client in their search for a full-time NOC Analyst. This off-hours position is responsible for monitoring clients' network operation and providing first level support and troubleshooting of outages and issues.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work as part of a cross-functional team to conduct proactive monitoring, remote diagnostic investigation and tier 1 maintenance activities for network nodes
  • Monitor network alarms and perform fault isolation testing within the network
  • Create and respond/resolve work orders, change requests and trouble tickets as needed
  • Escalate trouble tickets according to NOC standard operating procedures and provide support to other technicians/engineers
  • Provides operations support by answering inbound calls/emails from a wide variety of clients and external groups and perform the necessary support required to resolve issues
  • Provide support during large scale outages and disaster recovery efforts
  • Create, use and maintain resource documentation for reference and troubleshooting network problems
  • Provide timely updates to customers, internal groups and vendors via inbound/outbound calls, trouble tickets and emails
  • Create change requests in accordance with change management policy
  • Implement, maintain and repair routing, IP switching and remote access protocols as needed
  • Conduct end user incident and outage reporting, troubleshooting and resolution of problem
  • Work with internal groups to create reports on up-time, bandwidth usage, server utilization and other key metrics as directed

REQUIREMENTS

  • Associate's Degree or 2 years of equivalent training and hands-on experience
  • Knowledge of SONET, Metro-Ethernet, CWDM & DWDM and IP & MPLS fundamentals
  • MOP process (preparation and administration)
  • Familiarity with telecommunications equipment
  • Experience with troubleshooting Cisco routers and switches
  • Ability to work 3am to 3pm as follows: 3 days on/2 days off/2days on/3 days off
  • Training is 8am-5pm for the first 4-6 weeks
  • Ability to participate in an on-call rotation
  • Obtain designated technical certification(s) with company sponsorship
