Job Description

We are currently seeking a Sr. Staff Accountant for an immediate need. Candidate must have non-profit experience. Higher education industry experience is strongly preferred.

  • Reviewing and analyzing budget needs and proposing revenue and expense amounts. Identifying budget issues, providing alternative solutions and resolving problems.
  • Analyzing prior fiscal year expense and revenues and projecting financial trends for current and future fiscal years (upon request). Projecting revenues and expenses including forecasts of annual totals
  • Developing and maintaining complex spreadsheets and integrating financial models used for budgeting and forecasting.
  • Extracting and analyzing financial data and developing moderately complex finance summaries.
  • Assisting with preparing the annual operating and salary budget.
  • Preparing spreadsheets for the upcoming budget cycle and for future years.
  • Performing the accountant and financial service functions for programs funded by grants or special revenue.
  • These functions include: preparing financial projections and budgets, actual v. budget reporting, reviewing/monitoring of individual grants and transactions for compliance with private, local, state and federal fund requirements.
  • Partnering with Development on accounting, reporting, and record keeping for grant funds.
  • Maintaining accounting records for all endowment funds.
  • Coordinate with Development to provide accurate and timely donor stewardship information.
  • Maintaining accounting records for investments based on data provided by our investment managers.
  • Serving as the credit card administrator.
  • Serving as the backup audit liaison but provide audit information for areas of direct responsibility
  • Performing ad hoc projects for the CFO
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance plus three to five years of effective experience is required.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) applications and have experience working with financial databases.
  • Experience using Jenzabar is a plus.
  • Masters or CPA preferred.
