The Operations Manager has responsibility for delivering superior quality and on-time delivery to external OEM customers. By applying rigorous daily management fundamentals (tactical) along with a keen awareness of demand/ market trends (strategic), the Operations Manager is accountable to deliver Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory and Cost performance results in a value stream team (VST) structure. The Operations Manager is a great opportunity for any individual with aspirations of a senior leadership role within the operations function. This position provides a path to a Director-level or Vice-Presidential role within Jacobs Vehicle Systems and Altra (parent company), by creating the framework of running a subset of our business in a Value Stream Team.

MUST HAVE: Union experience, and metal cutting/automotive experience

Responsibilities:

* Plan, direct and coordinate the execution of operating strategies and production plans based on company objectives to improve productivity and sustain 95% on time delivery to customer demand.

* Drive focus on leading EHS metrics and continuous improvement to promote safety.

* Ensure production conditions satisfy Quality specifications by leading with a "zero defect" mentality (i.e. achieve aggressive reduction targets in customer defects, scrap, and internal quality).

* Ensure the execution of Quality containments, and the implementation and sustainment of countermeasures.

* Directly lead daily management meetings, including review of basic metrics and root cause countermeasure approach to insure adherence to VST objectives.

* Lead and participate in cross functional cost reduction efforts on direct labor, variable costs, and alternative production process solutions. Also support material cost reductions with Supply Chain and Engineering.

* Support a Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) culture with focus on supporting the Preventative Maintenance (PM) program and work with maintenance team on improving equipment uptime.

* Establish and lead communication meetings with direct reports.

* Actively develop and motivate team members through aspects of Talent Management. This includes engagement with the annual performance and development processes, talent assessments, and other similar initiatives.

* Develop and maintain positive working relationships with UAW leadership, driving consistent execution of company policy and the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

* Support growth initiatives and APD product launches within the specified Value Stream. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

* Strong leadership to motivate, influence, and train people. * High level of organizational skills and ability.

* Demonstrated problem solving, and decision-making skills and capabilities.

* Basic knowledge and understanding of financial documents with the ability to create budgets and prepare capital expenditure plans.

* Must possess great communication skills, both verbal and written, and comfortable with public speaking.

* Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization as well as external customers.

* Ability to maintain effective labor relations, union experience strongly preferred.

* CNC machining and complex assembly and test experience strongly desired.

* Automotive related industry, or related industry experience desired.

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required

Education:

* BS or BA Degree in a technical discipline preferred; commensurate years of experience are acceptable

* MBA preferred * 5+ years leadership in manufacturing environment preferred
