Patients Services Advocate

Introduction

Our organization is dedicated to helping ovarian cancer patients make more informed treatment decisions based on the molecular profiling of their tumors. Our mission is to improve the survival and quality of life of women with ovarian cancer.

Job Description

The Patient Services Advocate is primarily responsible for lab testing coordination and records management. Qualified candidates must also be able to interact with patients with compassion and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Answer patient telephone calls/emails; provide information describing the patient assistance program; make outgoing calls to patients and/or caregivers
  • Coordinate patient intake/registration and tumor testing process
  • Process testing forms and grant requests
  • Serve as a liaison between our organization, physician's office staff, and molecular profiling labs
  • Monitor testing progress and record with necessary documentation
    • Retrieve, input and modify information in computer based systems, including insurance information, demographics, clinical data, and test results
    • Maintain, file, and retrieve documents electronically


Qualifications

  • Associates degree or higher or 3 years relevant job experience, preferably in a HIPAA- compliant health care environment
  • Excellent oral and written customer service skills
  • Detail oriented with the ability to enter information accurately
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office suite
  • Ability to interact with patients with compassion, empathy and confidentiality
  • Familiarity with medical terminology/medical records is strongly desirable

Open to Part-time to Full-time hours, Monday- Friday
