Job Description

Vaco is working with a Cullman based company to identify someone to join their payroll and benefits team. This person will be responsible for inputting payroll and assisting employees with enrolling into benefits. This incumbent will track and input information into the system, and also process all enrollment employee database and files. This person could fall into the role of making sure the deductions taken out of paychecks are correct and assist with any issues before processing.

Other potential responsibilities:

  • Implement, maintain, and review payroll processing to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions. (Completed weekly)
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates (Completed by Tuesday of each week).
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
  • Facilitate audits by providing records and documentation to auditors (401(k) and ESOP) (Completed by September 25).
  • Administer various employee benefits programs, such as group health, FSA, HSA, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k), long-term disability, and supplemental policies as well as assist with claims related to those programs.
  • Conduct orientations and explain benefits self-enrollment systems as well as ensure benefits booklets are assessable to all employees.
  • Maintain employee benefit filing process to ensure benefits changes are entered appropriately in payroll system for payroll deduction.
  • Make sure COBRA benefits or administered properly.
  • Review and respond to unemployment claims with appropriate documentation.
  • Coordinate worker's compensation claims with safety department.
  • Ensure compliance completing benefits reporting requirements.
  • Submit 401(k) contributions weekly.
