Payroll - Human Resources - Payroll Specialist - HR

As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the payroll department, tax payments, and filings.
The position will perform a variety of payroll accounting functions in preparation, distribution and reporting of payroll while ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations. This role works as a member of the Accounting team, and collaborates closely with HR, Benefits, and a wider finance team as well as third party vendors.


  • Oversee and participate in the entire payroll and timekeeping process including reviewing, validating and reconciling payroll data to ensure accurate payroll payments, reporting and records
  • Analyze, audits, reconciles and resolves payroll and timekeeping processing and employee payroll issues to ensure compliance with company policy, generally accepted accounting principles and appropriate revenue regulations
  • Audits payroll reports and reviews and approves journal entries to record payroll. Aids in the month, quarter and year end reconciliations
  • Resolves employee and system issues and interfaces with Human Resources on all payroll related issues
  • Responds to complex employee inquiries that require detailed explanation or interpretation using extensive knowledge of established guidelines, policies and procedures
  • Staying current on payroll tax changes and regulations
  • Perform other assignments and special projects as requested

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of payroll experience, ideally as a manager of staff in a fast-paced, high volume, high growth company
  • BS Degree in Accounting, Finance or related area
  • Customer service oriented and highly organized
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet or exceed targets
  • Possess a collaborative work style, while being equally able to manager and develop staff.
  • Possess analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have strong experience with Microsoft Excel and Word

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with ADP or other large ERP system
  • BS in Accounting, good working knowledge of GAAP
  • CPP certification preferred
  • Experience with processing international payrolls
  • Enthusiasm, curiosity, and a positive attitude
