Job Description

  • Develop procedures and leads the payroll team to process bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll in the United States, ensuring timely and accurate processing of pay.
  • Oversee pre- and post-payroll auditing/reconciling procedures, as well as troubleshoot anomalies.
  • Partner with other areas in Finance, as well as Human Resources, Tax, IT, and other departments as necessary for reporting, compliance and strategic analysis.
  • Review, analyze and verify payroll for accuracy and make necessary adjustments or corrections through journal entries or other established procedures.
  • Research, analyze and resolve difficult or technical problems utilizing knowledge of common problems and the entire payroll function.
  • Coordinate and interact with federal and state agencies on issues pertaining to employee compensation and deductions.
  • Serve as project lead for all payroll upgrades and project team member for HRIS implementations that impact payroll.
  • Prepare payroll reports as needed for ad-hoc purposes and corresponding general ledger input.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance and direction to Payroll team through coaching, mentoring and by providing development opportunities.
  • Develop, recommend and implement process improvement initiatives to continually ensure payroll best practices.
  • Investigate, resolve and reconcile transactions with errors including end-to-end process collaboration with business partners from other functions.
  • Identify, research and communicate new laws impacting function. Establish procedures and controls to ensure compliance with federal, state, local and company laws/policies.

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in processing multi-state payrolls and payroll tax filing; knowledge of basic accounting principles required.
  • Experience processing sales commission data and other incentive payments.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in an Accounting leadership role, preferably in a Payroll function.
  • Knowledge of the FLSA and various srar regulations relative to payroll
