Role and Responsibilities:

A leading real estate company is seeking a Payroll Manager to join its Norfolk corporate team.

This is a great opportunity for a well-rounded payroll manager to join an exceptional team in warm and stable office environment.

The payroll manager will lead the payroll process in ADP Workforce Now, manage a team of 4, and take responsibility for all payroll calculations, payroll taxes, and general ledger treatment of payroll entries.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Supervision of the payroll department including employee maintenance, payroll processing, and adjustments and deductions; for weekly, bi-weekly and monthly payrolls.
  • Develop methods/procedures to ensure compliance with Federal and State laws and regulations.
  • Enhance the payroll department including the implementation of new or updated software, payroll manuals, policies and procedures, and process improvements.
  • Support and maintain the Payroll/HRIS system (ADP Workforce Now).
  • Review and approve payroll funding requests, imports and journal entries.
  • Annual preparation of payroll budgets for multiple companies.
  • Analyze and review payroll reports related to quarter and year-end processing including quarterly and annual tax returns, W-2's, Form 1095's (ACA).
  • Research and resolve IRS or state payroll tax issues which may include written responses to tax agencies, and support internal and external audit requests.
  • Prepares statistical reports on employee pay, commissions and bonuses, vacation, sick time, disability and workers compensation leave, and taxes/withholdings.
  • Train and mentor payroll staff, and assist internal customers as needed.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or other business function highly preferred.
  • 5+ years of recent and concentrated payroll leadership experience.
  • Advanced experience processing and managing payroll in ADP Workforce Now including time and attendance module.
  • Strong experience in a multi-entity environment, with real estate industry preferred.
  • Expert experience with commission statements, filing payroll taxes, payroll regulations and compliance.
  • Exceptional communication skills including proven ability to lead and mentor a team and a strong internal customer serviced focus.
  • Ability and desire to multi-task and meet tight deadlines.
