Job Description

Payroll Manager

This position requires an extremely detail orientated person with significant knowledge of payroll administration, including state and federal regulations, and will oversee the day-to-day payroll operations to maximize efficiency, maintain information integrity/security and deliver exceptional customer service. This position is accountable for ensuring continuity and successful delivery of functional services to users throughout the organization which includes but is not limited to payroll, time reporting, compensation, benefits, and reporting.

Job Duties:

  • Update and organize systems to manage payroll information
  • Provide leadership and partner/stakeholder management to execute day-to-day activities to support HR, payroll, time reporting, compensation, benefits, management reporting and other interrelated functions.
  • Serve as an interface between internal/external customers and the functional team members to ensure effective definition of and delivery of payroll processing. Provide overall prioritization of work assignments and management of resources and activities.
  • Maintain payroll records and files
  • Prepare and organize financial statements for filing and review
  • Manage time cards, time entry, and timekeeping software and systems via Kronos
  • Set-up new employee information and accounts
  • Onboard new employees on time entry systems and methods
  • Keep accounts accurate during employee changes and rollovers
  • Manage the payroll team; supervise and assign tasks to assistants
  • Work with accounting team, finance team, and HR
  • Keep detailed records for taxes and audits
  • Experienced in applying Change Management Principles to organizational initiatives
  • Comply with all local, state, and federal laws regarding finances, tax filings, and reporting
  • Ensure company complies with all additional legal and regulatory requirements regarding payroll processes
  • Strict adherence to internal company policies

Required Education and Experience:

  • Experience in managing payroll and time and attendance through SAP & Kronos
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (Accounting, Finance, Business Management)

OR other related discipline and minimum of 4 - 7 years of specialized payroll experience

  • Strong vendor management experience
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must be highly organized, analytical, action and detail oriented
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills


  • Familiarity with multi-state payroll is preferred but not required.
  • Strong working knowledge/ experience in SAP & Kronos
  • Merger and acquisition experience a plus
