Job Description

Do you want to work for a fun and reputable company? Vaco is looking for a Payroll Supervisor to join the accounting team at one of our most prestigious companies in Santa Monica. You will be responsible for the timely and accurate processing of all aspects of multi-state payroll for our clients. The successful candidate will assist clients to obtain information for payroll production and related issues, respond to and resolve client questions and problems, and deliver quality customer service. You will be the primary contact for your assigned clients to allow you to form the client relationship that ensures the highest level of client satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND PAYROLL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish and maintain payroll records for approx. 2,000 employees, non-exempt employees.
  • Identify and implement timekeeping policies for managers and employees to ensure timely and accurate processing of employee timesheets.
  • Identify and implement efficient payroll processes and develop new audits to streamline a complex payroll.
  • Review and submit non-exempt, semi-monthly payroll file.
  • Works with a sense of urgency to ensure payroll completeness and accuracy.
  • Effectively communicates to employees, managers, and stakeholders on payroll deadlines to prevent disruption to the payroll process.
  • Prepare reports (headcount, hours worked, vacation accrual, tax deductions, benefit deductions, etc.) for Management as needed.
  • Ability to understand the interaction between the payroll and accounting functions.
  • Supports the compensation commissions teams to ensure seamless processing of bonuses and commission payments.
  • Responds to employee inquiries, researches errors or omissions.
  • Resolves payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
  • Must be hungry to learn, own their role, and accel at delivering an exceptional client service experience.

Qualifications:

  • 4 year college degree preferred
  • 3-5+ years solid experience with payroll processing for highly compensated executives and exempt employee populations
  • Experience identifying and implementing improvements to existing payroll processes; development of audits and controls
  • Experience using Ceridian Dayforce software preferred, though not required
  • Familiar with state and federal tax and wage laws
  • Strong computer skills, specifically in Excel; proficient in data entry and time management
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and willingness to help a large employee base
