Job Description:

As primary stakeholder of the financial systems, the Controller provides accurate and timely accounting, budgeting and financial management reports, promotes best practices in accordance with company policy and procedures, manages the Company's general accounting records, systems, and team members, and maintains appropriate and adequate internal controls to protect the integrity of financial resources.

  • Implement, monitor and interpret established financial policies, practices and procedures. Ensure financial policies and procedures adhere to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and standards.
  • Prepare timely and accurate accounting, budgeting, product cost models and financial reports/statements. Conduct research and prepares financial analyses. Recommend solutions to complex manufacturing accounting and budget problems.
  • Oversee accounting organization (multi-site) to ensure optimal utilization of the accounting staff and maintenance of all accounting systems. Continuously review and assess processes, systems, and accounting staff roles and responsibilities. Recommend and implement actions to improve efficiency and strengthen internal controls.
  • Ensure the integrity of all general ledger account balances and the effective classifications or definitions.
  • Analyze period end financial statements and supporting data, prepare financial and management reports; report to CFO and management team.
  • Facilitate the external audit. Monitor internal policies, procedures and controls.
  • Provide effective cash management for the organization (multi-site), including management of daily cash requirements and daily treasury reporting to management. Oversee all multi-site accounting departments.
  • Manage federal, state, and local tax filings involving outside experts, as required.
  • Some domestic travel among plant sites (Southeastern US) will be required based on business needs.
  • Maintain month-end close of 5 business days and enhance quality and timing of monthly close and other financial processes, as applicable.
  • Regular interaction with senior management, which requires strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal.

Ideal Skill Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA preferred
  • Minimum 5 to 10 years of accounting experience with strong understanding of manufacturing environment and good supervisory skills. Audit and manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience working in a business that has rigorous reporting requirements (detailed weekly, monthly, quarterly financial statements as well as operational KPI reporting).
  • High level of skill in relevant accounting software (including ERP experience), report-writing software, Microsoft Office Applications including intermediate to advanced Excel skills. Prior experience with Sage X3 Enterprise Management systems preferred.
