Job Description

Vaco Memphis is working with a top Memphis investment firm in their search for a Portfolio Accountant.

This position will be part of a team responsible for daily support of client accounts as well as indirect support for a variety of accounting and reporting activities. The candidate will be responsible for working within the Portfolio Accounting (PA) group to accomplish the departmental objectives as well as collaborating with other departments to ensure efficient workflows across departments. In addition to the routine duties assigned to this candidate, they will also be expected to explore and question current processes in a way that will lead to process improvement discussions and ideas.

  • Reconcile cash between client accounts and custodial banks on a daily basis. Interfacing with the custodian and internal trade settlement resources for all reconciliation issues that may occur from time to time and maintaining consistent follow‐up until all issues are resolved. Also, perform monthly position reconciliations for all client accounts.

  • Monthly and quarterly support of accounting close, including billing, for client accounts and portfolio accounting system

  • Timely processing of client inquiries and reporting requirements specified in the Investment Management Agreement (IMA) and through on‐going requests. Preparation of data for meeting reports upon request from the Client Portfolio Management department

  • Communication with all appropriate parties for client deposits and withdrawals and processing in accordance with established policies and procedures

  • Calculation and distribution of the quarterly management fee and/or performance fee in accordance with the IMA

  • Onboarding and off boarding clients. Also, updating company records and systems for client data changes and sending notification to the appropriate individuals within the company

  • Monitor daily controls pricing, positions, index values, and FX rates

  • Assist with corporate action and income processing

  • Other portfolio accounting projects and duties as necessary

  • Help maintain policy and procedures for Portfolio Accounting processes

  • Continually evaluate and suggest improvements for Porfolio Accounting processes

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • Relevant experience in accounting or investment operations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with portfolio accounting system
  • Experience in portfolio performance measurement
  • General knowledge of GIPS
  • Experience with internal controls - establishing them and working on audits of internal controls with external SSAE16 auditors
  • Understanding of the investment operations workflows - order management, trade settlement, custodial interfaces, corporate actions, client reporting and billing
