Portfolio Manager

Our client is seeking a dynamic project professional to coordinate business and technical efforts in conjunction with the SDLC. The role will report directly to the CIO.

The Portfolio Manager is responsible for the governance, oversight, and administration of the project portfolio. This includes working with management and staff across all departments to assess, document, and budget potential projects; oversee project commencement and prioritization; perform project resource planning; continuously monitor and report on project status; participate in the organization's change management process; and play an integral role in the annual capital budget process. The Portfolio Manager will also work to develop and implement best practices, processes, and toolsets for effective portfolio/project management, and will help educate staff on best practices and effective project execution.


  • 7-10 years of experience in IT industry.
  • Thorough knowledge and related work experience of the project management process, theory, and lifecycle, including Waterfall and Agile methodology, as well as Project Delivery Framework and SDLC.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing upward among senior leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading diverse teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills (both oral and written) with the ability to clearly communicate complex messages to a variety of audiences.
  • Strong decision-making ability.
  • Detail-oriented with proven ability to adapt to a dynamic environment and oversee multiple projects, manage schedules, resource allocation/planning and maximize work efforts across all teams.
  • Possess excellent prioritization, resource planning and management skills as well as proven ability to identify, assess, and manage risk factors.
  • Proven competency in business analysis, requirements definition, and business case production.
  • Has worked in a time-sensitive environment and met strict deadlines.
  • Self-starter with a strong work ethic, high level of integrity and ability to motivate or influence.
  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field preferred
  • PMP certification preferred (but not required).
