Job Description

As part of the Product organization, the Product Owner (PO) is responsible for delivering value to customers by supporting the successful planning, execution, and delivery of high quality products and solutions as per Product strategy, client commitments and organizational goals.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of related business analysis and requirements management experience in financial services, systems development, product development, and/or project/product management
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 3+ years of direct Agile/Scrum methodology experience
  • Experience in Six Sigma disciplines would be a plus

Purpose:

The PO represents the customer, continuously engaging with stakeholders to ensure teams are building the right product to meet customer needs and communicating status of work completed. The PO creates and maintains the product backlog of work, prioritizing and sequencing work according to business value or return on investment.

  • Partnering with Product Management to create and maintain feature-level product roadmap.

  • Creating drafts of epics and stories to seed product backlog in order to begin the grooming process.
  • Determine and convey vision and goals at the beginning of every release and sprint.
  • Providing elaboration on themes and features in order to define description and acceptance criteria throughout the process of story backlog grooming.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies such as daily standups, sprint planning meetings, demos and retrospectives.
  • Work closely with UX to define optimal user experience for features.
  • Inspect the product progress at the end of sprints with the authority to accept or reject work done.
  • Mitigate impediments that may impact successful team completion of release/sprint goals.
  • Communicates externally with stakeholders to ensure teams are building the right product to meet customer needs, communication status and buffers team from potential distractions

SPS Product Development supports the business and technology work streams that deliver against approved initiatives including new products for emerging markets and enhancements to existing products.
