Job Description

The Project Manager is responsible for providing the required leadership on multiple medium sized projects or larger more complex projects by inspiring team members to attain project goals and meet the expectations of the project sponsor as documented in the Project Charter.

  • Creates and executes project work plans and revises them accordingly to meet changing needs and adapting the established project management processes and methodology. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of business projects ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments and goals.
  • Directs, manages, plans and administers the operational and administrative activities of an Information Technology and Business project teams which are assigned to a related set of medium sized projects and larger, more complex projects following the defined processes of the Program Management Office (PMO).
  • The Project Manager will work across multiple business areas to manage both IT and business deliverables. Forms a strong relationship with the business stakeholders, partnering to resolve project related issues, provides projects status updates and escalates issues and concerns appropriately.

Duties:

1. Responsible and accountable for delivering medium to large projects on-time, on-budget, and meeting functional and quality specifications.

2. Uses approved processes, templates, and tools to execute project delivery and receives waivers for acceptable exceptions.

3. Experience with medium to large, innovative new product development initiatives involving multiple technologies, stake holders and business processes to align to a business benefit.

4. Forecasts, manages, and reports on project financials, planned and actual project schedule, and resources utilization. Understands basic revenues models and cost to completion projections making decisions accordingly.

5. Uses established scheduling techniques to derive the project schedules, identifies the critical path and potential risks. Effectively applying the scheduling standards and enforcing them with the project teams.

6. Identifies resources needed to complete work and collaborates with resource manager(s) to assemble appropriate skills/teams and resources.

7. Manages Issues, risks, and changes using appropriate and agreed upon processes and tools established within the Project Management Office.

8. Manages Project Expenditures both Forecast and Actual, (Capital Budget).

9. Understands and communicates impact of organizational process changes.

10. Facilitates Project Reviews and provides information for audits, status reports, and Executive review meetings.

11. Leads Project Team to maintain project work plans and draft required deliverables.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or a related discipline or equivalent
  • Project Management certification (CAPM or PMP); preferred.
  • MBA or related advanced degree, preferred

Training requirements (licenses, programs or certificates)

  • Worked within a Project Management Office providing input to improving key processes.
  • Project Management Institute certification (CAPM or PMP); preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office Suite of products, (i.e. Visio, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
  • Project Management training and/or project lead experience of 3+ years (PMP, CAPM, SCRUM Master, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, MS Project, Outlook, Visio software programs.

Job experience (number of years, type/level of previous experience)

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in business analysis, system analysis, and design or infrastructure design/development/support.
  • 5+ years of experience in a Project Management role with a strong background in team development.
  • Familiar with Clarity or other Portfolio / Program Management Software
  • Experience will be accepted in lieu of education requirement.
