Purchasing Administrator


The Purchasing Administrator will have a high impact role by managing an expenditure base for materials and/or services to support the company's purchasing functions. The position is further responsible for the timely planning and scheduling of receipt and inventory control of the products as assigned.

Essential Functions

  • Initiates purchase orders based on trends, forecasts, and customer orders for all necessary production materials, finished goods, and indirect materials and services.
  • Secures and analyzes quotations, negotiates prices and terms with suppliers, and recommends suppliers with respect to cost, quality and delivery competitiveness.
  • Studies market prices and trends, engineering developments, and manufacturing method improvements applicable to assigned responsibilities.
  • Interviews and confers with current and prospective suppliers to determine supply capabilities, transportation logistics, inventory control and management.
  • Negotiates prices and delivery terms with suppliers.
  • Coordinates the planning of recent schedules and inventory control parameters for the assigned products and services.
  • Maintains ERP data to ensure timely order creation and delivery
  • Regularly interfaces with cross functional teams for new product introduction, quality and RTV activity, and accounts payable issues.
  • Generates regular and ad-hoc reports.
  • Performs other tasks as needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Self-started attitude
  • Strong organizational and communications skills
  • Experience purchasing in ERP environment - Epicor preferred
  • Advanced in Excel (Vlookup, pivot table and formulas)
  • Critical thinking, attention to detail, and a team player

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree with emphasis in business administration, economics or engineering preferred
  • 1+ years of progressive experience in purchasing and materials control in a manufacturing environment
